Quality Control & Proficiency Testing

To maintain the integrity and accuracy of our procedures and methods of analysis, our laboratory features proficiency testing (PT) as conducted by the American Proficiency Institute (API) as well as procedures required by State and Federal regulations. Three Rivers Hospital Laboratory assures quality control (QC) of instrumentation performance by voluntarily participating in Bio-Rad, MedTox, Siemens and several other inter-laboratory comparison programs.

TRHLab ensures the daily quality of patient results through a combination of analysis of commercial control specimens and verification of results through data review of multiple individuals. Every day of testing, 2-3 commercial control specimens are analyzed for each assay and the results obtained are compared against those labs utilizing the same methodology across the country to maintain assurance of test integrity.
